Top 5 Ways to Meet Couples at Heartland
One of the most frequent questions we get is "How do we meet other couples at Heartland?" Here are the top 5 ways you can help us help you make Heartland feel like your home!
- Attend Home Improvement – Meet new friends and improve your marriage along the way.
- Serve – The best way to meet people in general, along with other couples, is volunteering at Heartland.
- Attend Couples Community Builder Events - Simple events where we provide the place and you provide the community and the fun!
- Couples Ministry Facebook Page – Keep up on what’s happening!
- Practice Hospitality – Make plans with another Heartland couple or two!
The Couples Ministry’s goal is to create an environment where couples grow individually in their relationship with God, while at the same time, building a strong, healthy and loving relationship with each other. There are a number of opportunities to help you connect with God, your spouse and other couples. If you are interested in what Couples Ministry has to offer and what is coming up CLICK HERE and we'll be glad to help you get plugged in at Heartland!
Home Improvement
Posted: May 07 2012
What is Home Improvement? It is a Friday night event for couples of all ages and stages. Home Improvement was designed from the feedback we received for Heartland couples and here's what you said:
- Help us with our marriages!
- Help us meet other couples!
- Help, we are so busy we don't know how we can do the above!
Home Improvement is the solution. Join us one Friday night a month, 7-8:30pm. We'll provide childcare. We'll provided coffee and dessert. You'll meet new couples. We'll provide a professional to teach us about Christ-centerered marriages. We'll equip and encourage you. We'll have fun along the way!
Dates/Topics - Registration Required
June 15 - Topic: Navigating Choices-His Stuff, Her Stuff, Our Stuff!
Remember why you were attracted to your partner? Was it magnetic? Today, it's rare to find marriages that can be modeled. So what is the attraction power in a marriage? It is knowing who you are as an individual and being committed to a marriage vision and mission! Join Gary and Christy Kuzmich for “Navigating Choices: His Stuff, Her Stuff, Our Stuff”as they share their story (the good, the bad and the ugly) and provide insightful marriage tools. Friday night at 7:00 pm for dessert, coffee, community. Registration required, childcare provided.

Chemistry + Affinity + Simplicity + Frequency/Pace + Christ = Successful Groups
Our small group model will be groups around tables at our Home Improvement/Classes. We will support anyone who feels called to start a small group. Contact Britton Gregory if you have questions. We have found the following steps are what work best for a successful group:
- Chemistry - Make a list of couples who you feel drawn to, click with, have chemistry with. Pray about whom you feel you should invite to be a part of the group.
- Affinity – Groups are strong when you have common ground - a cause, a passion, a lifestage, etc.
- Simplicity - Small group discussion can be study driven, but that is not the only option. Examples are read a book of the Bible, have one discussion question from The Journey or simply getting together to pray for our families, kids and each other.
- Frequency/Pace – Consider the pace of those in the group. More meetings does not mean more growth. An example is meeting 1x month and using Home Improvement as another time to meet as a group.
- Christ – Keep all groups centered in Christ.
