Deep Dives - Theology Class

Deep Dives

Piloting a new way to grow in Christ

About Deep Dives

Our Deep Dives theology classes are designed to require only a short, focused time commitment while allowing you to learn more about the topics of the most interest to you.

Each Deep Dive class is just three to six sessions long and covers a specific portion of the book Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem. (You may sign up for any Deep Dive class being offered, regardless of whether or not you have attended previous Dives. There is not a specific order in which you need to take the classes.)

Advance registration and purchase of the book is required, and each Dive is limited to 75 people. Childcare is offered, but you must sign up and pay for the childcare before the first class session. Anyone is welcome, however, these Dives are designed as a faith deepening tool – so if you are exploring your faith, a 1:1 Spiritual Mentorship would likely better suit you.

Deep Dive Goals

  • To worship God with our minds (Matt 22:37, Romans 12:1-2)
  • To grow in the understanding of our "essential" beliefs (Colossians 2:2-8)
  • To marry our beliefs (orthodoxy) with our actions (orthopraxy) (James 2:18-19)

Deep Dive Values

  • requires motivated learners
  • no experts; no axes to grind
  • major on the majors
  • devotional study in parallel is a must

Expectations of Participants

To help maximize our class times, we ask that you complete the pre-class assignment before the first class session and come prepared to discuss the material. Because each Dive involves only three to six sessions, we ask that you commit to a Dive only if you will miss no more than one session in that Dive. For your own retention and learning, we ask that you stay current with the assignments and complete the class quizzes.
