Through the Roof is Heartland’s ministry for children with special needs.
The heart of Through the Roof ministry is to help children with special needs, and their families, experience love, acceptance, encouragement and support to participate as fully as possible in the activities of Heartland Community Church.
Trained volunteer “buddies” are paired with children to provide assistance to meet each child’s unique needs during classroom, worship, and any special activities of Children’s Ministry. Our goal is to allow children the chance to learn and grow in a supportive environment as they experience the love of Jesus while also providing peace of mind for parents so that they may focus on participating in their own worship experience.
Each child will have a team of 2-4 buddies who are trained specifically for each child’s unique diagnosis. Buddies will accompany children to their age appropriate activities and facilitate their participation. Through the Roof also has a specially equipped classroom for those children that may require more direct one on one attention or have sensory issues that might make them uncomfortable elsewhere.
Family Night Out
There will be no Family Night Out scheduled for October. See you in November!
On the 3rd Saturday of every month from 5:30-8:30, Through the Roof will host a Family Night Out. We invite families to drop off their child with special needs, along with any siblings, for an evening of fun designed especially for them. Our volunteers will provide specialized 1:1 care for your child throughout the evening. Parents are given the gift of free time and the kids will have a blast!
