the gathering to Launch as a Church Plant
Once again Heartland is giving birth and launching a new and unique church plant beginning this fall. Our college/post college ministry known as the gathering is setting out on a new mission as a church called the gathering network that was announced last Sunday morning during the 9:00 and 11:00 am services. The gathering network will formally launch and separate as of October 2009, but will move with Heartland and continue to meet Sunday nights in our new home through at least 2010 as it develops its "mid-sized communities". We encourage you to listen or watch to learn the latest. (the gathering presentation begins at about 27 minutes into the video)
In addition, the gathering has created a page of FAQs regarding the transition to a church. An information meeting this Tuesday, June 16th, 7:00-8:00 pm in the Gallery at 8301 Lamar. If you plan to attend please RSVP to jordanneb@heartlandchurch.org
What if the Church... Served together?
On May 30th, more than 1500 people served in 12 different places around the city. More than $40,000 was donated in cash, project materials, and equipment as eleven churches came together to teach and live out Micah 6:8 for three weeks.
The city seems a little smaller because we know our neighbors in 2 states. Our eight ministry partners-Hope Center, City Union Mission, Salvation Army, Grace Lutheran, Rachel’s Tea House, Mission Adelante, Hillcrest Transitional Housing, and the Urban Scholastic Center, were able to punch out countless items on their to do lists.
