The reports are in and Ozark Family Adventure received rave reviews! Families enjoyed days at the pool, waterslide, indoor water park plus time on the lake with wave runners, skiing and tubing. Each night the summer interns put on a kids program while parents connected with one another and were encouraged in both their relationship with Christ and their roles as parents. We had 17 families from Heartland, 40 adults, 48 children, and 22 interns.
Families experienced meaningful community in the church family. We'd love for you to join us next year. Look for online registration next year and save the date now - July 27th - 30th, 2009. Click here to contact Missy Crawford for more information.

Heartland has recently implemented Church Community Builder (CCB), a web-based church management system. It's a revolutionary tool that will allow everyone in the church to interact with one another, promote community, and communicate easily within one's small groups and ministry teams.
CCB offers the following features:
1) Database - with contact information, birthdays, photo directory, and the eventually the ability to look up your own financial information.
2) Room reservations online.
3) Matching spiritual gifts and skills with volunteers and job positions.
4) Equipping and facilitating communication within small groups and ministry teams.
Soon we will have online registration, payment, and giving. When we move to the new facility we will offer a secure child check-in feature.
Each Heartland member with an email will receive a username (usually your email) and a password. (note to self - always change your password to one that you can remember) From there, each person may login and update their own profile. It's a clean, simple and intuitive interface.
To learn more about Church Community Builder, click here to watch this 12 minute overview.
Lastly, a couple notes on security and privacy. Children aged 12 and under have restricted profiles. No one will able to view their information unless authorized by church leadership. Your actual email address is not visible in the system. You will be able to email anyone at the church - but only through the CCB system. You decide on the amount of information that you want to share with others.
We plan to launch to the entire church in early September. We're still tweaking the system a bit, but if you are Interested in diving right in? Click here to get a username and password and you can get started right away. |

Starting August 30th Heartland is coordinating the Sunday sermon series Road Trip with the small group resource Just Walk Across the Room. During this series, we will ask people to join Just Walk Across the Room small groups. Our hope is for people to stay in their existing groups and not "jump ship" to join these new groups. To help retain your group's cohesiveness and to help us move forward with momentum, would you consider using this material in your group as well?
We are also asking for new leaders to step forward to lead these new groups to accommodate the interest generated by this sermon series. Click here to email Britton Gregory to let us know your intentions or to let us know if you know of anyone who may want to lead a new small group.
We will ask people to sign up September 7th and 14th for new groups. These groups and hopefully yours will start the material Oct 8th. This material can be covered in either a four-week experience or an eleven-week experience.
Small group leader training for this material will be offered during Leadership Community August 23rd. RSVPs for the training are requested.

We want to thank everyone who made an investment in LTP 2008. Many of you had interns hanging out with your children, you donated to YES! Day and you fed them lunches. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing each intern and loving on them in such a Heartland fashion. The end of their summer was extremely busy and here you'll see a few shots from YES! Day and OFA. YES! Day was filled with a lot of serving, rain and having great attitudes! Our volunteers served in places like Harvesters, The Hope Center, Mission Adelante! and Heartland. Way to go interns and volunteers!
OFA was a great week as the interns really served the parents and kids in attendance. Kenyon Anderson, a mom who took her three kids to OFA had this to say about the interns: "When I ask the kids what their favorite part of OFA was, they unanimously shout- "THE INTERNS!!!!" I agree. Their servant spirits are such a blessing to this mom, and my kids can't wait to walk in their footsteps." Thank you Heartland for your continued investment in building leaders from the next generation! - Glenn Kahler
