A Fall Retreat Unlike Any Other!
This year, September 25-26 our Fall Retreat is spreading all across the city, as students gather in host homes for a jam packed 2 day retreat experience unlike any other. Friday night students start scattered in host homes for session one, small group time and tye dye, then gather at the church for Kansas City's Largest 143’ glow in the dark obstacle course! Session two begins Saturday morning in host homes with small groups before heading out in the afternoon for a city wide scavenger hunt. The retreat concludes Saturday night with all you can eat Chris Cakes Pancakes and an outdoor worship experience under the stars.
AND this year unchurched friends (attend any church 3X or less a year) go for FREE! Just contact Joe or Sagan at the bottom of this page for more info.
This Year's Theme
In the last moments of Jesus’ ministry on Earth, he said something that is extremely shocking: that it is for our good that he should go away. He follows this shocking statement with encouragement and hope – that once he leaves he will send an advocate to speak on our behalf. That advocate is the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity. He holds the same power of God the Father and the same promise of Jesus the Son. He lives in us and works through us and keeps us connected to one another. The Holy Spirit guides and provides … and the fruits of that labor are wide-reaching and eternal. This year’s content will feature phenomenal teaching and worship from the CIY Move summer camp exploring the Third Person of the Trinity – who he is, how he works, and the many ways high school students can lean in and stay connected to him every moment of their lives.
We’ve worked hard to make sure this year’s Fall Retreat is wildly fun AND safe. Below are some frequently asked questions we’ve done our best to anticipate! If your question hasn’t been answered, CLICK HERE to email Joe Ratterman.
Students will not be sleeping over for this year's Fall Retreat. In order to prevent the spread of COVID and maintain safety standards students will be dropped off at host homes and picked up from Heartland Friday and Saturday.
Heartland will honor refunds to any family who cannot send their student(s) to Fall Retreat for any reason.
Host homes provide a gathering place for students to learn, discuss, have fun, and eat meals together during our retreat. Our hosts will include the homes of current adult leaders, Heartland staff members, middle school or high school parents, or other Heartland families that have opened their homes to students! Each small group will be accompanied by a screened small group leader to facilitate and supervise their time together.
Students will be split up by grade and gender. If your student is bringing a friend that is in a different grade, please send along your request and we will make sure they are put in the same group.
With registration your student will receive 3 meals (Friday - dinner, Saturday – lunch and dinner) a Fall Retreat 2020 t-shirt, and a fun, high impact experience!
Mask, water bottle, Bible, journal, pen, and anything else they might want to feel comfortable (light jacket, personal hand sanitizer, etc.).
No. Our registration cost is all inclusive. There will not be a merch table or shopping outings.
Transportation from guardians will only be required for drop-off and pick-up at the start and end of each day. Transportation during the retreat will be provided by adult volunteers and Heartland staff. Transportation waivers must be signed by the students guardian.
