Make a difference as our Part-Time Care Coordinator!

Make a Difference

Are you passionate about offering compassion and practical support to those in need? Do you thrive on organization and enjoy connecting people with resources that can make a real difference?

Heartland Community Church is seeking a dedicated and warm-hearted individual to join our team as a Care Coordinator. This vital part-time role (20-29 hours/week) is an incredible opportunity to be at the forefront of our Care Ministry, providing essential administrative and operational support to ensure our efforts are delivered with compassion, clarity, and genuine care. If you have a heart for helping others and the organizational skills to bring clarity to compassion, we’d love to talk with you!

This in-person position includes Sunday mornings and some evening hours, placing you at the heart of our community when they need it most.

What You’ll Do

As our Care Coordinator, you will be instrumental in creating an environment where hurting people are met with grace and connected to meaningful next steps. You will work in close partnership with our Communities Pastor and Counseling Director, playing a key role in:

  • Responding with Heart: Manage our Care Line, emails, and in-person walk-ins, offering a compassionate first point of contact and connecting individuals with the appropriate care and resources.
  • Facilitating Support: Administer our Compassion Fund, guiding applicants through the process and coordinating with our review team to provide timely financial assistance.
  • Empowering Groups: Provide logistical, communicative, and administrative support to leaders of our vital care and recovery groups (like AA, GriefShare, DivorceCare), ensuring they have everything they need to lead effectively.
  • Mobilizing Volunteers: Recruit, train, schedule, and nurture our dedicated Care Ministry volunteers, fostering a supportive team environment where they can see the impact of their service.
  • Providing Essential Support: Assist the Communities Pastor and Counseling Director with scheduling, communication, and other administrative tasks. You’ll also manage logistics for Care-related events and oversee Communion for our worship services.

Being a Welcoming Presence: Be an active and supportive presence during Sunday services, partnering with greeting teams, responding to care needs, and offering prayer as a key part of Heartland’s front-line ministry.

Who You Are

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A genuine and active commitment to the mission, beliefs, values, and leadership agreement of Heartland Community Church.
  • Stellar administrative, organizational, and communication abilities – you can keep things running smoothly!
  • A warm, compassionate presence and a true heart for helping people navigate challenging times.
  • The ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and utmost care.
  • Comfort and proficiency with email, forms, scheduling tools, and basic technology.
  • A self-motivated and dependable work ethic, excelling both independently and as part of a team.
  • A passion for ensuring people feel seen, supported, and spiritually cared for.
  • Experience with volunteer coordination or ministry support is a definite plus!

Key Relationships

You will report to the Communities & Discipleship Pastor and work collaboratively with our Counseling Director, pastoral staff, Operations Team, and Creative Team.

Ready to Make an Impact?

If you are excited about the opportunity to combine your organizational skills with your passion for compassionate care, we encourage you to apply! This role is a chance to truly help people feel seen, supported, and spiritually cared for within our church community.

Our Story

Back in 1986, a few dozen people gathered in the basement of a home in Overland Park to start a church for their friends who didn’t like church. A lot has changed over the years, but we’ve never stopped showing people what’s possible with Jesus.

We really don’t want anything from you. Instead, we have four specific desires for you.

Our beliefs shape our church’s teachings, culture and direction. And since we’re not into hidden agendas, it’s all right here.
