Men’s Ministry

Heartland’s Men’s Ministry operates under the banner of ”Everyman Ministry.”

Everyman Ministry’s vision is to lead every participating man to be a Disciple of Jesus Christ.

Our mission is to create opportunities for men to Gather Together as a community of godly men, to Grow in their knowledge of and relationship with Jesus Christ, and to Go and Serve him by serving others.

Men’s Journey -

Men’s Journey is an opportunity to grow in Christ with other men who face the same life challenges as you. You have two options for taking part in Men’s Journey.  We meet every Friday at 6:15 am at Heartland and at 6:30 am at Homer’s Coffee House on 80th Street just west of Metcalf. If you are new to Men’s Journey you should feel free to drop in any Friday. At both locations, we have a “launch group” just for those not yet connected to a group. At Heartland, ask for Tom Walker, and at Homer’s ask for Don Mardock. For more information, contact Tom Walker.

Everyman Friday with Brent Morris 6:15am-7:30am Friday, October 17th On the Dock

6:30am-7:30am Friday, October 17th

Our October speaker for EMF is Brent Morris, Executive Director and Founder of  SET APART KC. Brent has a strong passion to use his creative gifts to communicate the Bible in ways that bring people together for God’s purposes. Brent graduated from William Jewell College with degree in art and has studied with some of the most influential illustrators in the country.  He worked for Hallmark as the Creative Lead for the Hallmark / Dayspring subsidiary and resigned in 2010 to pursue a full time call to ministry.  Brent will encourage all of us that we are indeed “Set Apart” by God with a unique plan and kingdom purpose which can be cultivated and utilized in practical, beneficial and fulfilling ways in our community, church, and world.  Please join us in the Dock at 6:15 for coffee and donuts and Joe will begin speaking at 6:30 am with the wrap up by 7:30 so you can get to work on time.

November Men’s Event—Biscuits & Buckshot! Saturday, November 1st 9:45am-12:30pm

9:45am-12:30pm Saturday, November 1st

Men of Heartland, it’s time again for Biscuits & Buckshot at Powder Creek Shooting Range in Lenexa (8601 Monticello Rd, Lenexa, KS 66227)!  Feel free to invite your friends, neighbors’, co –workers, and even that pesky Brother-in-Law. $15 covers your range fees and rounds of trap, and all the B&G you can eat.  Please bring your own ammo (Multi-purpose load available at Wal-Mart or Bass Pro, NO steel shot allowed) and a shotgun if you have one, and if you don’t—no worries!  There are plenty of guys willing to share theirs and to teach anyone proper gun safety that might be coming for the first time.  For this round of B&B, feel free to bring the kids along.  We will have a separate area for any shooters under the age of 15, where they will shoot on a grease board after being guided through proper gun and safety techniques.  Please sign up on the Men’s page if you plan on participating in this event, and don’t hesitate to contact Bill McMurtrey if you have any questions at indhorse10@yahoo.com or (913) 271-1477.

Hope Center Go-Mow-Grow

Men, once again we have the chance to GO and serve the Hope Center and their mission to rebuild one of the most under-resourced communities in Kansas City.   Our job for the third consecutive year is to MOW and weed-eat the grounds on their campus on the corner of Linwood and Belfountaine.  They love it that we “own” it by scheduling the people and knowing the facility in such a way that they know things will get done.

Our opportunity is to GROW by making this a small group activity.  Just one week is all we ask.  Click on the link below to volunteer your group and select the date(s) that work best for you.  2 to 5 guys can knock it out in 2 or 1 hour.

For more details, email Rob Ames.
