Men’s Ministry

Heartland’s men’s ministry operates under the banner of ”Everyman Ministry.”

Everyman Ministry’s vision is to lead every participating man to be a follower of Jesus.

Our mission is to create opportunities for men to gather together as a community, to grow in their knowledge of and relationship with Jesus, and to go and serve him by serving others.

Men’s Journey -

Men’s Journey is an opportunity to grow in Christ with other men who face the same life challenges as you. You have two options for taking part in Men’s Journey.  We meet every Friday at 6:15 am at Heartland and at 6:30 am at Homer’s Coffee House on 80th Street just west of Metcalf. If you are new to Men’s Journey you should feel free to drop in any Friday. At both locations, we have a “launch group” just for those not yet connected to a group. At Heartland, ask for Tom Walker, and at Homer’s ask for Brad Gregory. For more information, contact Tom Walker.

Habitat for Humanity Serve Day—Saturday, April 18th (8am-4pm)

8:00am-4:00pm Saturday, April 18th

We can’t think of a better way to point our “Arrows Out” this April than to rally at Heartland to serve a family in need through Habitat for Humanity!  We need 15 guys to sign up and set aside Saturday, April 18thto serve alongside a family in need of a place to call home.  There will be plenty of work to be done for everyone regardless of your previous carpentry experience—or lack thereof. Just wear study footwear, bring a water bottle & work gloves and, be prepared to help out AND have a lot of fun!

We will begin on-site at 8am (address is 1333 Georgia Ave), and there will be plenty to do (clean/repair gutters, some wood rot repair, siding repair, paint, caulking , front porh repair, etc.) Please sign up here so that we can plan food accordingly, and don’t hesitate to contact Bill McMurtrey if you have any questions Bill McMurtreyindhorse10@yahoo.com.

Living Waters Serving Opportunity—A weekend for the Birds!

Building nests? Treehouses in the Ozarks? Powertools? I am in! Living Waters Canoe Ministry is located on a ridge near Camdenton, MO overlooking the Niangua River on one side and Tunnel Dam Lake on the other. Serving church groups, scouts and a Veteran’s Group, the camp has lots to offer, but little flat ground! We will be building Tree Nests, two person perma-tents that are up in the trees and all kinds of cool!

The Saturday April 18th or April 25th workday will be from nine to five. Lunch is provided, a power generator is provided, lumber is provided and if you can stay Friday and/or Saturday night at our staff quarters at  Windermere.

Grab a friend, grab some power tools and sign up on-line at http://www.john738.com/howtovolunteer

Dan Deeble @ Everyman Friday on April 24th!

6:30am-7:30am Friday, April 24th

If you have never been to an Every Man Friday event, this is one you won’t want to miss!  Our own Dan Deeble will be our featured guest as he encourages & challenges us to be “Bold & Stout-hearted” as men of faith.  We’ll get a sneak-peak into the Four Core Questions Dan regularly asks himself as a leader, and hear his heart and passion about the impact that a movement of Christ-centered men can accomplish in our homes, workplaces, and world!  Come at 6:15am on Friday, April 24th to the Dock for coffee and doughnuts.  Everyman Friday begins promptly at 6:30 and is done by 7:30 so that we can make it to work on time.

Men’s Ministry is pointing our “Arrows Out” this April!

If you’ve been around Heartland for awhile, you know that we’re passionate about pointing our “Arrows Out” towards the last, least, and lost in our community and world.  So – in light of this, and in an effort to lead out as men at Heartland – we are postponing our monthly men’s event this April, and are actively sending you to point your “Arrows Out” instead!  You can serve anywhere; at Heartland, with other men at Habitat for Humanity, with one of our ministry partners like Mission Adelante or Hope Center, OR you can grab a few buddies and meet a need you see around you!  It doesn’t matter where you serve, but it is up to YOU to prayerfully seek God as to where to go out, and then to actively engage in meaningful service wherever the Lord Leads.  Let’s see how much good we can do for Christ and others this month, and see what God does!

New Men’s Study in 2015: The New Testament – Understanding the Story we find ourselves in

Tuesdays 6:30pm-8:00pm

Have you ever found the Bible to be hard to read, and even harder to understand? You may be familiar with the life of Jesus, but have you ever struggled to find the rest of the New Testament to be relevant and meaningful to you in the business of your everyday life? Have you resolved to find a way to grow closer to God & to community in 2015?  If you answered ‘Yes’ to any of these questions, then this 12-week class is for you! At Heartland, we believe that everyone can understand and encounter God through the Bible, and we want to invite & challenge you to join other men at Heartland for this exciting exploration of God through the Story of the New Testament. No prior experience with Bible is necessary, but even seasoned participants in Bible Studies will be encouraged and challenged throughout this course.  Space is limited so, so sign up today!

Adult Community

Our Adult Community welcomes adults, whether single, married, divorced or widowed. If you are looking for a Sunday morning study
group, then Adult Community may just be the right fit for you. We meet Sunday mornings from 10:15 until 11:30 in room 4.

The first few minutes are spent catching up on the past week and then we dive into the current study. John Auld & Gary Blakeman
facilitate this interactive discussion of the Bible and how it relates to life in today’s world. This is a safe place to voice your thoughts
and hear what other people just like you are thinking. We engage with the Bible and various study materials throughout the year.

Hot Roasterie coffee and tasty treats are available for your enjoyment. For more information, contact Gary Blakeman.
